Show Your Support With This Arthritis Awareness Travel Mug!

May is almost over and that means the National Arthritis Awareness month is coming to a close soon. With only a few days left, there is still time to support Arthritis Awareness month.
There are so many ways you can show your support. In addition to what we have talked about previously, you can show your support for Arthritis Awareness with this travel mug.
The 14 ounce travel mug is primarily royal blue with an “Arthritis Awareness” imprint and awareness ribbon on the front and back side of the mug. The double-wall insulated mug has a stainless steel lining and a black plastic push on lid with a sliding spill protector. The exterior of the travel mug features an opaque plastic outer shell and an easy-grip handle.
From personal experience, I can tell you that hot beverages stay warm for about two hours in this insulated mug. I can also tell you that the oversized easy grip handle makes it easy for swollen arthritic fingers to hold on to. I use it everyday and love it!
This travel mug is an easy way to show your support for Arthritis Awareness. You can share your arthritis stories with people when they comment on your mug or encourage them to write their Congressman to support the Arthritis Prevention Control and Cure Act. You may just find that arthritis affects more people around you than you thought.
Get yours on eBay now! The travel mug is on sale through May 31, 2009.

How Are You Promoting Arthritis Awareness This Month?

More than 46 million Americans have some form of arthritis. Many people do not know how arthritis affects the individuals who have it, their families and friends, their coworkers, their finances, their health insurance premiums, their quality of life, etc.
What are you doing to promote awareness of this disease that is the leading cause of disability? This disease that affects more than 300,000 children in the United States? The toll of arthritis is rising. We should be educating others about it.
Since May is Arthritis Awareness month, this is the perfect time to help promote this debilitating disease that has no cure.
Here are some suggestions on what you can do:
- share your story with someone
- write a letter to your Congressional representative about how arthritis affects you or someone in your family
- write a letter to your Congressional representative supporting the Arthritis Prevention Control & Cure Act
- ask others to write their Congressional representatives
- send in an editorial to your local newspaper
- participate in or volunteer at a local Arthritis Foundation Arthritis Walk
- proudly display your Arthritis Awareness items
- register to be an Arthritis Advocate with the Arthritis Foundation
There are many ways to show your support. Just choose what suits you best and let us know how you promote Arthritis Awareness!
Did You Send Your Letter or Video to Congress Today?

Filed under Arthritis Advocacy, Arthritis Awareness, Legislation
I certainly did! You can too! Just go to the Arthritis Foundation’s Arthritis Action Center. Enter your zip code and determine what you want to send. It is that easy!
If you have not sent your letter or video yet, what are you waiting for? The Advocacy & Kids Summit continues through tomorrow, March 4, 2009. Help support the arthritis advocacy effort by sending in your letter or video while the summit is still going on.
If you enjoy giving your two-cents to Congress, then by all means, volunteer to be an Arthritis Ambassador. It is an important job that anyone can participate in.
Get Involved With The Advocacy & Kids Summit 2009

The Advocacy & Kids Summit takes place on March 3rd and 4th, 2009 in Washington, DC. Approximately 350 individuals will be at the Summit, meeting with Congressional members about arthritis and how it affects their lives.
I am sure many of you would like to participate. The good news is that it is not too late. Get involved with the summit by sending an email to your Congressional members on one of those two days.
Don’t feel like writing an email? Don’t worry. Send a video instead as part of the Virtual Summit! Just make a video that lasts no more than a few minutes. Let them know who you are, what arthritis means to you and what you want them to do about it. It is that simple.
Go to the Arthritis Foundation’s Arthritis Action Center to get started. Good luck!

As many of you know, May is National Arthritis Month. As such, we should do our part to promote it. There are many things you can do. You can help to promote Arthritis Awareness, volunteer with your local Arthritis Foundation chapter, support the Arthritis Prevention Control and Cure Act (APCCA), be helpful to someone with arthritis that could use some help, attend your local Arthritis Walk, make a donation to further arthritis research, etc. If you are not sure where to start, then take some time this month to determine where your talents lie. You may be surprised about how much you have to offer!
